Textile Design MA

– Interior textile – fabrics and furnishing accessories for residential and public interiors;

– Textile for garment – textile and clothing accessories for store clothes and unique fashion designs.

The course of study involves examining the trends in these areas, design and implementation in material. 

In the first year there is a wide range of projects, demonstrations and lectures that help to build the capacity of students to a higher level of understanding in this area. This helps the student to work with a wide range of textile weaving, non-weaving techniques, printing techniques and materials and their application in industrial, public interior, exterior. They can also create unique fabrics for apparel and accessories, carpets and other textile for covering; coloring and construction of patterned fabrics for industrial mass production and hand printing and weaving in textile design.

The course provides the opportunity of working with textile factories, working on a project or working with engineers in a team.

In the course of training students have discussions and meetings with prominent artists from Bulgaria and abroad in the field of textile art and design and contemporary art, criticism, theory and history of modern textile art and design. Theoretical studies and writing research essay is an obligatory part of the learning process. 

This course ends with a diploma thesis and its defense. The diploma thesis is realized in material on a selected topic in the field of textile, as fabric design and developing individual research project, supported by a written text.
