Calligraphy MA

About
Master Program Calligraphy is designed to give students the opportunity to learn about and master the principles, methods and techniques for creating calligraphy, which would give them a basis for performances in both the author’s calligraphy, and in the application of the acquired expressions in the field of applied arts and graphic design.
The art of applied graphics is the fastest and most directly related to the direct consumption in public practice. Its ubiquity, expressed with total visual presence surrounds us in our daily lives. This presence makes education in this area especially needed, not only to help direct users (all consuming information and advertising and visual communication works) but also the presence in the practice of creative artists, acting through diverse manifestations of specialty and peculiar social and aesthetic adjustments. For its part, the area of author calligraphy could direct students to a specific, absolute expression of a particular area in which they could develop and fully reveal their artistic potential as creators of unique works of graphic art. The main subjects studied are Author Calligraphy which is designed for artists, whose interests extend creative expression in the field of modern European calligraphy and Practical Calligraphy outlining a specific area of graphic design, in which it is carried out by means of calligraphy methods and techniques. Content of the program is characterized by a variety of other copyright and design tasks (all types of visual communication, posters, heraldic badges, emblems, logos, print advertising entities, web design, a variety of works on-screen graphics and many others).
In a broad professional aspect artists-calligraphers can participate in the entire artistic life as artists with a variety of options. Thanks to the acquired knowledge they express themselves as artists in all types of genres of art using professional knowledge obtained as a base to enrich their individual talent and creating new original works with the especially typical for this age spirit of freedom and the absence of specific limitations. During the training students work on their own individual creative and practical improvement plan in the preferred direction of each student and in accordance with the personal qualities and talents. Masters completing the Program Calligraphy have considerable public importance as authors. Areas for professional contribution to the Masters are freelance artists, assessors, experts, academics, art directors of advertising agencies, art editors in publishing houses, managers of creative departments in electronic and print media, heads of cultural institutions in the country and abroad.
